  3. Avalon Felicity
We decided to go on a Rhine River cruise after having had a wonderful experience with Avalon on a Danube River cruise two years ago. This cruise on the Rhine River was everything we hoped for and more. The Avalon Felicity is a great rivership for cruising, and more importantly, its crew and staff were just super. Meals were quite enjoyable, with excellent, friendly service. Entertainment on-board was also entertaining and fun. For example, one evening we were entertained by a string trio (two violins and a guitar) who put on a superb performance of classical and ethnic music. They received three standing ovations from everyone in attendance! Our guided shore tours were well organized, with friendly local tour guides who provided much interesting information and history on the sites we were touring, often with fun and humorous sideline stories and local legends as well. Thanks to a very well-trained crew and staff, the process of moving our luggage into our staterooms went very smoothly, and our disembarkation went equally well at the end of our cruise. Thanks, Avalon!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with French Balcony
Cabin A 208
The staterooms on the Avalon Felicity are quite nice, with good storage space and comfortable beds. We really enjoyed having a French balcony that we could open and experience all of the sights and sounds of our river cruise when we wanted to.

  • City Tour
Our city tour of parts of Amsterdam was fun and interesting, and included a tour by canal boat. Lots of history and colorful sites to see and experience. The Amsterdam tram system is easy to use as well for additional individual exploring.

  • Windmills Driving Tour
We toured Zaanse Schans, which is an outdoor windmill village. This was quite a unique experience and opportunity to see and explore an operating windmill and to see other historic style buildings as well. Our tour guide did an excellent job in taking us around and explaining what we were seeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of the Old Town area of Cologne. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and interesting. The world renowned Cathedral in Cologne is just awesome to see and explore. There is also a fascinating Roman stone arch reconstructed nearby.
