Sailed with a group of 14 to the Eastern Caribbean (St Thomas, San Juan, Amber Cove and Grand Turk). All the ports were good....Amber Cove is beautiful but if you venture into DR, be warned that it's super poor and rather depressing. Although you can't beat the prices, Carnival is just too budget for my tastes. Everything is just "ok". The Magic is a very large ship and most times doesn't feel overly crowded with the exception of the pool areas (WAAAAY too small) and at meal times.....there really aren't enough options. Carnival promotes all these alternative dining options but in reality they are rarely open. The main buffet food is just ok with limited food choices. Main dining is slow as hell.

On the positive side, we met a lot of super nice folks and the kids enjoyed the camp. The employees work super hard and deserve every penny they get in tips. Having cruised with Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, my family has decided that this is the last Carnival cruise for us.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Did an excursion into Puerta Plata. Went to a rum factory, art museum and a "fort". Too long, and rather depressing.

Grand Turk

Enjoyed a nice beach day. Beautiful water.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Parking and embarkation at the port was easy and fast.
