We chose this cruise because we had never been to Turkey and Greece, so losing Istanbul was a disappointment, although understandable. And this was our first Celebrity cruise which we wanted to try. the staff was excellent. All of them! the food in the dining room was excellent. the Bacio Café was probably our favorite spot, and with the guitar player...outstanding! the live band and sometimes DJ, before our 830 dinner was also great...nice to be able to have a few dances before going into the dining room for dinner. the only thing that really bothered us is that we had the late night dinner spot at 830pm and it would have been great to go to a show after dinner. we did go to the Sky Lounge on most nights and usually the music was pretty good, especially the first few nights. but after the first week, the music selection in the Sky Lounge started to waiver. there weren't too many people in attendance, especially after 1030pm. so instead, it would have been great to go see a comedian or some type of entertainment. we really missed that as on other cruises there was always entertainment after the late dinner seating. for this reason, we may go with another cruise line for the next 10 yrs, and then when we're a bit older, come back to Celebrity. all the ports were good, for some we made our own travel arrangements, ie Rome and Florence. we thought Celebrity should have offered a shuttle and a 2-day pass for Dubrovnik as 13 euros each seemed to be a bit much to go into the Old Town, especially when you would have to pay that again if you wanted to go into town the next day as well.

Port Reviews

Dubrovnik

we went into town on the public bus, took a cab back with other cruisers and the next day we also took the public bus into town and then walked back to the ship. we thought the 13 euros was too much to pay to get into town. we walked the old city wall on our own and went up the cable car as well, and enjoyed coffee at the top at the restaurant. the next day we went to Banje Beach and it was awesome!

Rome (Civitavecchia)

we organized a driver with some other cruisers and that was good. the weather though was not great unfortunately. but we had been to Rome before and had seen many of the sights so we just took in what we could and enjoyed a nice lunch!

Florence (Livorno)

we organized our own driver with other cruisers. we have been to Florence before and have seen many of the sights. this was in 2007. we found this time around that the salespeople were super aggressive. I did not enjoy shopping in Florence at all this time around and it won't be on my list next time I go to Italy. the city itself is beautiful and so are the buildings so that was good to see.

Nice

we have been to Nice before and many of the surrounding towns so we just took the train into Nice, enjoyed the Promenade d'Anglas and met a friend for lunch. we had a nice, relaxing day!
