We have sailed with NCL several times before and so were used to their standards. We did our research beforehand starting with speaking to crew who had previously done the cruise and then we searched the online forums and critics evaluations. We chose the last cruise of the season on purpose and selected excursions that didn't break the bank. Our Cabin was 8524. According to one critic this was the worst deck and we were probably in a cabin that would suffer from the noise generated by the nearby theatre. This was not the case. Our view from the balcony was simply wonderful, the noise was absent the whole trip with the exception of one afternoon when everything was silent and I could just about hear something from the theatre. Admittedly they were really banging out the base guitar etc with one musical group, but the noise was hardly noticeable. Our room service was very good with our cabin steward being very friendly and helpful. We were left with the usual towel foldings that we have come to expect and were always delighted to return to our cabin finding it made up, turned down, etc with appropriate lighting on. The food on the whole was well prepared and we had no complaints with the exception of one which I will allude to later on. We didn't go to the specialist restaurants on this trip instead going to The Summer Palace, Indigo, O'Sheehans, Lotus Garden, The Outdoor Restaurant (?) and The Garden Cafe. The staff were always courteous and tried to help wherever possible. We did have one episode when in Indigo our order took too long to be delivered and there was a problem with it. We didn't want to cause a scene but the waitress summoned the manager of that section and he really wanted to make amends. We said we didn't want some complimentary wine etc. When we returned to our cabin that evening we found a tray of chocolate dipped strawberries in our room and a telephone message from the manager again apologising for the hiccup - all forgiven and a great attitude on their part. The excursions we went on were The Whale Watching in Juneau and The Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan. Both were well worth the money and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Since the cruise was in Alaska we did see many Orcas, Humpback Whales, Seals etc. One of the most memorable sights was being in Glacier Bay seeing the glaciers and floating ice from calving glaciers. A group of Rangers came on board and gave the ship a running commentary on what we were seeing and explaining the ecosystem which was very interesting. Visiting the towns enroute and finding out more about their origin and the interesting sites that were there were amazing. The onboard entertainment was in part very good. There was a couple who used to be in Cirque de soleil. They gave an outstanding aerialist performance which drew the audience to their feet for a standing ovation. In both evening performances there many who had to stand as all the seats were taken. A truly international standard. We went to a musical tribute evening which we didn't really rate, but that might have been due to our own personal taste. The gym was well equipped and was very popular. On the first day there was a short queue for the dozen or fifteen treadmills but we didn't have to wait long. There were stretching, Abs and body conditioning classes that were in the adjacent classes room. The usual weights, step machines, rowing etc were also there. Some atttendants were at hand. Our boarding and disembarkation of the ship was in our opinion well organised. The buses that should have collected us on time outside the terminus in Seattle at the end were delayed, however when we saw the traffic hold-ups that downtown had to endure we could understand the delay. The staff emphathised with us and did what they could. A lovey cruise, well organised and we would go again.

Well organised, great scenery
