Crystal Mozart Cruise Review by AWHW
- Sail Date: September 2016
- Destination: Europe River
- Cabin Type: Penthouse Suite with French Balcony
I had a PH stateroom which is beautifully decorated and configured as on Crystal Serenity, but smaller (yet more than 300 sq ft) and there is no bath tub. Also French balcony instead of a real balcony (not available in most river boats). Breakfast at Le Bristo is mainly continental but good, with freshly squeeed orange juice. Dining is good but choice is limited unlike on a Crystal ocean cruise, there being no alternative restaurant except the Bristo, which can serve a tapa-type degustation menu of many items for a change. Service attitude is excellent as on Serenity and Symphony, among the very best. Crew seem to have run-in completely. The crew is all European for a change when most ships are serviced by Philipinos.
The beauty of a river cruise is that it is scenic all the way, and in this respect the Danube is comparable to the more famous Rhein. The best aspect on this river trip that I enjoy most is to watch the Danube sunset, a long drink in hand, on the top level long sun deck, which has comfortable day beds and bar, all inclusive of course, and even a small garden. It can be an ultra romantic experience with the right companion, and perhaps this is what you do not find in an ocean cruise.
The Vienna disembarkation is smooth, but need a taxi to town. Embarkation was great too and passengers are met at airport by a fleet of luxury appointed coaches operated by Crystal. The same fleet of cars also handles excursions.
I had a most enjoyable cruise, perhaps more relaxing than anything on ocean. A beautiful ship and the great service still lingers in my mind long after disembarkation. Will surely return.
