We always wanted to sail from New York so we could spend time in the city before our cruise. We had a wonderful pre cruise visit and stayed in lower Manhattan at the Conrad hotel and did 2 walking tours with Real new York tours...can highly recommend both of them.

We received an email notifying us of early departure due to the storm. Thank you Dial 7 for responding so efficiently to needing to change our pick up time. Dial 7 offered great service for airport and port transport at a reasonable cost. Celebrity did a great job here. only a handful of passengers didn't make it and joined us In Boston. Given all the disruption to transport across the US due to the hurricane I was amazed at how they managed to get almost all of us there early. Embarkation at port Liberty was quick and easy. Lots of comfortable seating. For this anniversary cruise we travelled in a suite 6145 (S1). When we were taken on board we were taken to Michaels club where coffee and refreshments were served prior to lunch in Luminae. Maja the concierge was absolutely wonderful, very welcoming and encouraged a nice social atmosphere. She kept in touch throughout the cruise and resolved some minor issues for us easily. She is worth her weight in gold. Michaels is a lovely lounge where live music events and nice drinks and canapés were served in the evening. In the morning pastries and coffee were available and throughout the day tea coffee and drinks of all kinds were available.

Luminae was open for breakfast lunch and dinner on sea days, but wasn't open for lunch on port days. It was a joy to eat there. wonderful service and a short but interesting menu. You could also have items of the other dining room menu if nothing appealed. I cant praise the staff here enough. They were all fabulous. I do think there are options for enhancement for suite guests by having a small cocktail bar near the entrance of luminae, and an outdoor terrace from Michaels.

Cabin Review

Sky Suite 1

Cabin S1

Nicely furnished aft suite. Wonderful bathroom with shower stall and bath and twin sinks.

Verandah has 2 recliners and table and chairs. The room has only a single opening door to the verandah rather than the usual sliding glass doors. This can make the room appear a little dark although there are advantages in hot climates or stormy weather. IPod player, and illuminated mirror plus points. Electric blinds and curtains. Storage a little limited.
