This cruise is far beyond "excellent." I traveled with a group of five family members and friends. We started with the pre-cruise option of one night in Oslo and an then the scenic train ride to Bergen. I wish that we had two nights in Oslo though I would not have missed the train ride! (maybe one less night in Bergen). The Viking Star surpassed our every expectation. The design is so beautiful and spacious, with stunning views everywhere.

The staff was splendid: anticipating every need, warm and friendly, and so hard-working. Our cabin provided ample room for two people without feeling at all crowded. We looked forward to every meal and especially enjoyed the dinner entrees that reflected the dishes that were native to the country that we were visiting. The excursions were ample and diverse. We chose to do the city tour in almost every port. Other excursions that we particularly enjoyed: Cruise Pulpit Rock, Flam in Norway. The time in Berlin is limited but, by planning carefully, you can see a lot. Viking's "Berlin Your Way" delivers you to and from Berlin by train, and provides a tour which included Unter den Linden, the longest surviving part of the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate and much more. (Months in advance of the cruise, we made our own lunch reservations online at the Kafer Restaurant at the top of the Bundestag in Berlin. This private reservation plus using cabs to see the places of greatest interest to us enabled us to see much of Berlin in the time we had. We chose "Ultimate St. Petersburg" which includes two full days of seeing the premier sights in St. Petersburg and were delighted by this choice.

The entertainment on the ship was first rate and added so much pleasure to the trip.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

Spacious - plenty of room for two people for 14 days - bathroom is superbly designed

Spotlessly clean - our wonderful stewards cleaned and refreshed at least twice a day

Veranda - with two chairs and small table - a great vantage point for watching the sea or the cities as we came into and out of ports

Beds were so comfortable!
