My Bff and I ( age 46 and 33) traveled onboard the Norwegian Getaway on Sept 11-18. We had this trip planned since last June, so it was a long time coming. This was my 5th cruise overall, third with Norwegian. It was her third overall, second with Norwegian. Before I go any further, I will say we are not picky people, and were only looking for a good time.

-Day before embarkation. We flew into Miami the day before, and stayed at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. We had messaged Uber to pick us up at the airport, and after an hour of waiting (there was some kind of police blocking the entrance for every car except taxis ) we cancelled Uber and took a taxi over to the hotel. When we arrived, no one came to help with our bags. They were helping everyone else who wasn't in a taxi so maybe that was the reason? Hotel was average, as we paid for a balcony, and ended up with a sliding glass door with a railing in front of it. Great views of the bay thought. I will also have to agree with previous reviews of the hotel as the rooms do need a renovation. We were also never told of the underground "mall" area connected to the hotel next door. Found that by ourselves and it gave us more dining options. The next morning we called Uber to try it again. He arrived in 5 minutes and took us to the port.

-Embarkation. We arrived at the port by 945. Someone was there to take our bags and we went to check in. No lines and everything went fast and smooth. We got our key cards, went up to the terminal and waited. When it was time to board we all got in line and, excited as everyone was started taking pictures of the boat. My friend then got ripped a new one, as this gruff woman came stomping over and told her to stop taking pictures as it was illegal. There were no signs posted anywhere to say this, and everyone else was doing the same thing. I don't know if this is common knowledge of what, but she was very rude and kind of put a foul taste in everyone's mouth for the start of the trip.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

Everything under construction. As per tour guy there are no beaches in the area, you have to take a taxi or excursion to any place worth going to.Only stayed an hour or so because of the weather.

Roatan

Took a bus to West bay beach. Snorkeling wasnt as good as advertised. Weather was very hot and humid.

Belize City

All vendors looking for your money. Wet lizard restaurant was good. Only spent an hour or so there because it was too hot and humid.
