My husband and I cruised to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was our first vacation without children in 16 years so we were looking to relax and spend some quality time together. We stayed in Miami the night before to insure we were at the ship in time in case of any delays and it worked out great. My tip--I used Instacart for the first time and had a bottle of champagne delivered (for free) from Total Wine to our hotel. I paid the $15 corkage fee once we got onboard and it was still $30 less than the cost of the same bottle of champagne on board. We took it to the Wine Cellar and they iced it down while we enjoyed it We picked this cruise for it's variety of activities and the ports of call and were not disappointed. We got the Thermal Spa pass for the week and were delighted. It was wonderful and oh so relaxing. The heated chairs with a panoramic view were to die for. The thermal pool was never crowded, nor was the whirlpool or the saunas. We did not utilize the pool on deck 16 or the h20 whirlpools as they were loud, crowded and too sunny. There was a great grotto on the h20 deck that was shaded and much quieter that was quite nice. We did find seating on the Waterfront decks to sit and relax. The Tasting Room (wine bar) was a great find and never crowded unless they had a wine tasting event going on. The Aqua Loop and Aqua Tubes were super fun and a real rush. You need to be able to walk a lot of steps to get to them, but they were worth it. You cannot wear any jewelry of any kind to get on these rides though. We tried the ropes course and walked the plank off the side of the ship. You need closed toed shoes for the ropes course so pack some tennis shoes. Our best photograph was from a photographer who was sitting in the midst of the ropes course and got a great shot of my husband on the zip line. The food was wonderful. Moderno was our favorite. It is just like Fago de Chao. Overall all the dining was great. We had reservations for everything and never waited for a table. The biggest dining drawback was that they had entrees listed on the menu in the complimentary dining rooms that cost extra. I felt that should only be in the extra fee dining venues and was disappointed to find this on the menu. We enjoyed the entertainment of the live shows and thought the performers were Broadway quality. The Cotton Club show was especially good. We found the embarkation and disembarkation extremely well run and quick. We walked off with our luggage and were out in no time. We are non-smokers and the largest issue was the smoke smell that permeated the ship on 3 decks in the center of the ship. Why a brand new ship isn't designed better to limit the smoking to contained areas is beyond me. It made several areas unusable to spend any time in. The comedy club, art show, Le Bistro restaurant and several bars were all tainted by the overwhelming smell of smoke. It did not however affect our cabin at all that was also on deck 8. The ports of St. Thomas and Tortola are very close to one another (you can get between the 2 of them with a 30 minute ferry ride). We had to be back on board the ship in St. Thomas by 3:30pm to depart for Tortola. This was only done to get more gambling done in the casino and they had to be in international waters to do so. It was disappointing to leave port so early in St. Thomas when everyone could have enjoyed more shopping or excursions there instead of circling around to accommodate the gamblers who had many other sea days to do that. The shore excursions we went on to St. John to snorkel and to Jost van Dyke to enjoy the beach were excellent. I wish we could have spent more time there it was idyllic. We did not leave the ship in Nassau. We enjoyed the ship amenities instead and did not regret it. There were 3 ships in Nassau the day we were there and made for a crowded port. We had a cabin with the extra large balcony on deck 8. The bed was extremely comfortable and the cabin was roomier than expected. The bathroom was especially spacious. A double wide trough like sink was big enough for both of us. The shower was great with a glass door, multiple shower heads and a clothes drying wire. It had plenty of towels and towel racks and lots of storage. Our luggage easily fit under the bed. The closet had plenty of hanging space and dividers to store clothes. We had additional storage by the TV that we never even used. We used room service one day for the continental breakfast and enjoyed it immensely. Overall it was an excellent vacation and the ship was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely do this again!

Cabin Review

Large Balcony Stateroom
Cabin B6 8736
Roomier than expected. The balcony was great but I would recommend choosing a cabin one room further forward. Our balcony and the one just aft of us was slanted as they were the first larger balconies. It didn't crimp the space really but it did give a view of the deck below and exposed your nighttime view to more lighting from the decks from the side view. Moving up just one more cabin would have prevented this and given just a little better view, less light and slightly better privacy. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linens were clean and comfy.
