We chose Anthem because we love Royal Caribbean and wanted to go to the Northeast. I will tell you that reading the reviews scared me a bit. It also didn't help that the Anthem got caught in the Hurricane Hermaine a couple of weeks before we sailed. Which is never a good thing to hear before you are getting on. BUT... We loved every second of the trip. The ship is fabulous. We loved the size. Being that it was a 9 day cruise to the Northeast it was predominately over 50 crowd. Which we fall in albeit barely. There was NEVER a crowd anywhere and the ship was full. The Windjammer was never crowded anytime we went in there, nor 270. I am talking you could sit anywhere you wanted anytime and the staff was so friendly and never rushed. We fostered some sweet friendships with some of the staff. We could always find a seat around the shipl to sit and watch people, read or relax. There are many areas to do that off the beaten path.

Food: we have been on many cruises and we do not get on expecting to have fabulous food every meal. They are after all preparing so much everyday. But we always had a good selection and everything was generally very good. Some things are not our taste but the fruit and salad bar were always fresh and tasty. If you are sailing expecting 5 Star restaurants you will be disappointed but food is not why we travel. Truthfully we really do not like the whole idea of dressing up and going to dinner. We would much rather just grab something when we were hungry. We did go to Chops which is always fabulous. American and Icon were fine. We really liked 270 Cafe for a fresh salad and a little sandwiches. Windjammer always had a nice selected for any taste. My husband also enjoys the pizza in Sorrentos.

Cabin: we LOVED the cabin layout. We were in 12200. A balcony room. We love the balcony as we like to look out and watch comimg in and out of port. I loved having my own closet. There is one on each side of the bed. Plenty of room to unpack and put your suitcases under the bed. Our Steward was very nice and met all our needs which are simple. We like ice in our room at all times. He kept the room in great shape and we never needed for anything. Plenty of outlets and storage.
