We have cruised on Holland America several times and generally found their ships to be enjoyable and well staffed. Not so with this ship. It looks to me like "every expense was spared". The decor was tacky and tasteless. The cabins were downsized. Since we were cruising in the North Atlantic there was little opportunity for being out on deck. Therefore most of the time at sea was spent in the ship's lounges or in your cabin. There is no movie theatre (movies are shown at night on the pool deck----they at least gave you a blanket.) There is no library either. Certain areas were completely closed to passengers because they had been booked by special groups. Of course there was the endless "flea market" in and around the shops, selling all the junk you could want. We did enjoy the ports of call, especially Iceland and I will say that the food was quite good. But beyond that. it was a "real disappointment". And yes, staff has been decreased also.

Shore excursions were well handled and took us to the places that we had chosen ahead of time with easy and comfort.
