Very fun cruise! Everything about it was positive except for the Destiny dining room for dinner. The food was mediocre at best. Just plain bad a couple times. The prime rib was so bad I heard people all over the ship talking about it the next day. I'm not even sure everything that was wrong with it, it was just not good at all. The brisket and filet (for extra$$) were both very good and the jerk pork was OK, but overcooked.
For the first time ever on Carnival we had bad service. Every night things were either forgotten, extra things showed up nobody ordered, drinks never arrived, water was unfilled. And our server seemed annoyed when we mentioned these things. We were always polite about it, but if we order something we would like for it to eventually arrive.
And it was just incredibly slow. We were among the first ten people to walk into the room the final night and we were one of the last people to leave. Ordering drinks when we sat down each night meant we MIGHT get them before the entree. We were arriving at the after dinner show late because of how long everything took, and we could clearly see it was not like that for the entire room. We watched a larger table come in 10 minutes after us and they were finished and leaving as our entrees arrived one night.
But whatever, we had lots of fun anyhow. We would totally go again on this same trip, but if after the first night or 2 the service was like this trip was we would be asking to move to another server's area.
Excellent porthole room option. Bigger than other porthole rooms I've had. Very quiet room most of the time....But be aware, very noisy during docking. As in very, very will-wake-you-from-dead noisy. But if you're generally an early riser like myself that's not a problem at all anyhow.
We live near Tampa so it's nothing new to us, but the Terminal is clean and quick. Nice place to embark from!
