We have done European river cruises but have been nervous about a big "ship'. Our fear was long lines, small cabins, children running all over the place, etc. But to see Alaska, we did not have much of a choice. The simple review is this.....we'll do this trip again in a heartbeat.

From the moment we walked on the ship (It was so easy with no long lines) and opened the door to our suite (we were in the Neptune Suite) we knew this ship was going to be special. These Neptune Suites are amazing.....over 500 sf, large lanais, the Neptune Lounge where you could eat a light breakfast or have snacks all day, and a concierge in the lounge from 7 AM to 8 PM to take care of ANYTHING for you. I also loved the free cleaning service.

Meals on board were fabulous and offered a few venues for dinner. The menus in the main dinner room changed daily. If you are looking for rock climbing, surfing, and all the other amenities that a really big ship offers, this ship is NOT for you. The Zaandam holds approx. 1500 passengers.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SA

We booked this late but if we had booked earlier, I would have been on the opposite side of the ship. There was more to see. These suites are massive (over 500sf) and very quiet. Climate control works very well.
