cruised out of NYC, my cousins had a %comp due to 25th cruise with Carnival, and the canada/new england ports interested us as a change, and to avoid the zika scare.. Found it odd that were no refrigerators on deck 8/balconies, but our stewardess hooked us up with one pronto..(She was great, Gordana for Croatia)..Rooms were nice, smallish balcony and smallish bathroom with larger shower, and very low water pressure. We even had only cold for awhile, but a call to downstairs seem to have it repaired quickly. Food was ok, but lacked healthy options. Lunch was weak, dinners just ok. The rotisserie chicken on almost all carnival ships , was absent. We tried the steak house and it was found extremely lacking. My steak arrived cold, my wife's very undercooked(raw, and ordered med.well), No tableclothes, very meager sized baked potatoes, and sides, coupled with poor service. The chef came out to apologize, but they would never comp our meal. The maitr'd gave us some drink coupons to compensate us..what if we do not drink?? or had our own drinks onboard? Stay away. If they are going to upcharge you, they should give you the steakhouse ambiance, portions ,and service. The Havana Bar in aft is good, nice italian for lunch, or asian wok....Guys burgers were nothing to get excited about..a good charcoal burger is infinitely better to the fried thing they served.. the deli was poor(very salty ,fattypastrami,)

the staff was always pleasant and cheerful. Quality of food, etc has gone downhill dramatically over the years or cruising. Just a dollar thing..

The shows were very crowded, and the comedy shows in the limelight lounge were frequently overcrowded. there were no bands playing on the pool decks, a DJ with music that , for the most part, was not appropriate for the older crowd present. We were the younger ones on board, 60-62..and would have welcomed some soft rock, popular music, etc.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8C

normal size carnival balcony room, narrow balcony, no standard refrigerator in the room, comfy beds, good a/c. overhang from lido deck prohibits stargazing at night to look straight up. The shower has weak pressure. Very ample storage spaces..and a mirror with a great light for those ladies who need to apply makeup/hairstyle..

Port Reviews

Boston

too limiting with stops too far apart. Cant do everything in the time alotted. We only did 2/7. They should break it up to 3 and 3 with shorter driving routes to allow us to maximize our time..

Portland (Maine)

tried the Holy donut because a line that wraps around a block does attract attention. Also we saw a lot of people waking out with boxes of donuts. Nice treat. There were museums, art galleries, stores, some history stops, etc. A very nice walking trail by the ship..

Halifax

nice port to walk along the bay, shop, eat, etc..there are museums, etc.

New York (Manhattan)

Easy on and off with parking at the terminal.

Saint John (New Brunswick)

visited the oldest city market in north america, shops, museums etc, nice walking town
