Cruise was chosen by the travel agency, about $3200 for two people. We had a 5th floor window cabin, chosen by us ostensibly because we expected the weather to be cold, drizzly and wet as usual in the Baltic ports. Instead we brought California weather with us for six of the 8 days, we should have had a balcony.
Boat was dated, older decor and unremarkable. Cafeteria is only one half of one floor on port side but full floor on starboard side, making it difficult when they were changing from brekkie to lunch. Cafeteria not open past 11 pm, a poor choice for those who were up late. No midnight buffet, no walk through of the sculptured fruits, a bargain basement cruise for a top price. Others we met aboard paid far less than we did for upper floors with a balcony.
Worst experience was the noise overhead. People walking over our cabin ceiling at all hours, no succor or relief from the onboard cruise relations people/ They sent people down to hear the noise when I did not ask for it and woke us up; did not send people when we asked and then did nothing for five days. After profuse apologies they said there were no rooms to move us to even though they did upgrade people to better rooms who won prizes at bingo. There was additional noise from the lounge acts in the central atrium which reverberated through our rooms a fair distance and one floor away.
Clean, small but quite serviceable. Plenty of hot water except for one day. Cabin staff attentive, on time and helpful. Clean sheets.
Beautiful walking style city with medieval history, breathtaking canals, good food, sweet people and a place long to be visited a second and third time. Quite modern with all the flavor of Europe.
