This was only our 3rd cruise, the previous 2 also being with Celebrity. We've stayed with them as we loved it from the start, and while not perfect, there's a lot to like. The feel of the ship is a nice mix of luxury and casual. A lot of people are upset formal has been replaced by evening chic but we still felt comfortable to dress up and not feel overdone; most people did dress pretty smart in the MDR on all nights.

The buffet is good, can't compare to other lines, but does get busy at times and on a couple of occasions wasn't as hot as it might have been. Hubby's main gripe is the removal of sushi from the buffet as there is now a new speciality restaurant for sushi, but with a $30 fee when only one of you likes it...we werent going to do that.

Main dining room meals were always lovely and we had great service.

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

Was what we expected, bed on the window side and slightly larger balcony as we were on the hump. Only criticism as has been said before are the towels, just not large and pretty average quality. I like to step out a shower and wrap in a towel that covers me.

Otherwise everything was fine, enough space for everything we needed to store though we had brought some extra hangers with us

Port Reviews

Tallinn

The place I was really looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. Lovely buildings, lovely atmosphere. Really pretty city. Don't go on the hoho bus, it goes round the outside of the town. Walk from the ship, only about 15 mins and you get through the old city gates. We then basically followed Rick Steve again. Loved it

Aarhus

Loved this place from the moment we stepped off the ship. It is going to be the 2017 European capital of culture and they are putting a lot of effort not just into redevelopment but also into helping visitors. People with big badges happy to help and guide but not to be pushy. In fact on our way back to the ship we saw 2 of the helpers and thought they had clipboards so were braced for an inevitable survey. We felt a bit embarrassed that they were actually just giving out free samples of their local rye bread!

We visited Den Gamle By, a living museum, recreating Danish life in the past. A brilliant place that kept us occupied for 4 hours. Leaving enough time to wander round the rest of the town. A lot of people didn't rate this port and there probably wouldn't have been enough in the town for a full day but the way we worked it was great

Oslo

Liked the city but nothing really wowed me. We visited the Vigeland park with its amazing statues, a short easy tram ride from the city centre, then just wandered round the city with guidance from Rick Steve

Amsterdam

We visited this on our own as it's somewhere I've always fancied going. We booked in advance online and was glad we did as the queues are huge otherwise. Really interesting and well presented information

Amsterdam

Sadly horrendous rain meant visibility was a bit restricted but the guide was great and informative

Stockholm

Visited Vasa museum which is brilliant. Two main tips...go there first thing, queues were massive by lunchtime as we left. And tickets are available on the boat. We queued immediately on leaving the ship at a ticket booth for 15 mins in the pouring rain before we realised we didn't need to. Just follow red line for the boats a short walk away. The first boats break their route to go directly to the Vasa then on the way back you see a few sights before reaching the old town. Again we followed Rick Steve in the old town which is a lovely place, really quaint and far more picturesque than I expected. There's a lot of building work going on near the river but it doesn't spoil the town experience. It is walkable back to the ship so you save your kroner and avoid buses or trams

Berlin

We chose not to take the trip to Berlin. Living in the UK we can fly over for a short break in less time than the excursion takes. Instead we got the train into Rostock which was a lovely old city, very pretty in parts though less so by the river but enjoyable to walk round nonetheless. We stayed there until early afternoon then went back into Warnemunde, another pretty town with lots of lovely places to eat and shop. This day saw the best weather of the trip and turned out to be an unexpected highlight for us

Copenhagen

Copenhagen is bigger than we prepared for! We left the ship and headed straight to the Little Mermaid, then intended to get bus or tram into the city. But we couldn't find our way and ended up walking it (the fitbit was a triumph!!). We were able to walk to Amalienborg Palace with some very grumpy guards who shouted a lot of some young children dressed as kings and queens; bad mark in the 'friendly Danes' awards! We also round to Tivoli gardens but didn't go in on advice of friends who said it is pricey for what it was. There's a fair bit of construction going on in the city but it's still, ok to walk round. We went through Orsteds park on our way to the Rosenborg castle where we decided not to actually pay to in but wandered round the gardens for free. To be honest this being the last port on the cruise we were quite tired and it was a warm day, so we just stayed in wandering mode, winding our way back down to the waterfront. Not a city I was wowed by on this occasion but to be fair we probably didn't visit in the right way to do it justice
