Will start by saying that this was my first cruise and my wife's second. I was in the Marine Corps and spent quite a bit of time at Sea so it took my wife 25 years to get me back on a ship. After finishing a great week on the Veendam I wish she had talked me into going on a cruise sooner.

We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit the area. As far as location and timing went this was our only option.

We originally booked an ocean view cabin but received an upgrade offer so we ended up in veranda 173. We liked the cabin it was roomy and had plenty of storage space. The cabin was very quiet and the bed was quite comfortable. The only negative was every once and a while we noticed what smelled like diesel fumes.
