Chose this cruise for the itinerary. It was our first experience with Celebrity and will probably be our last. Have cruised 10 times with other lines and found Celebrity to be lacking in quality of food, entertainment and the delightful surprises that other ships have.
The boat was clean and comfortable but the food was so ordinary for a cruise. Usually you have lots of variety, but it seemed like the same old stuff everyday just with a different name to disguise the fact that it was the same stuff. The cream at the beverage counter was curdled 4 out of the 8 days. No one seemed to care. Staff was not as cheerful as on other cruise lines. Can only think that Celebrity mistreats them.
The wait staff in the dining room kept chastising us for our menu selections. Huh? It's my dinner, I'll eat what I want.
Very attentive cabin steward, but no one ever came by to address the loud gurgling of the bathroom sink. No towel animals though:) Just one of those corny but delightful surprises that was missing.
Worth it. Beautiful views from Mt. Floen.
Spent quite a bit of time at a Viking ship museum and old village community. The highlight was the summit of Aksla. Not too high but very scenic vistas of the city.
Electric train ride to Egersund was enjoyable because the train was so quiet and smooth. Infinitely better waffles and coffee at the Grand Hotel than in Flam. The bus ride back to Stavanger wasn't as scenic as advertised. Keep in mind Stavanger is a fishing town turned oil town. Not scenic from a fjord standpoint.
