The ship was beautiful, the food and service were great, the entertainment was enjoyable, but most of all the ports we visited were WOW! This was only my second cruise and I was a little worried that 14 days would seem too long. The cruise started in Amsterdam and we went a day early so we could spend some time there. We stayed at the Dikker and Thijs Fenice Hotel. We took the train from the airport and then a tram right to their door. It was a great location and when we were ready to go to the ship we took a cab for approx $25 Euros. Embarking was very easy and only took a few minutes. We were emailed a assigned time of 2:00 - 3:00 and just walked on and went right to our cabin # 7316.

The cabin was in a great location. We were just down the hall from The Hideaway - a spot to relax in with self-serve coffee and tea. We were also near the elevator bank that went right to the Oceanview Cafe on 14 or the Grand Curvee dining room on 4. The ship was very spacious and never felt crowded. We could always find a seat in the theater, swimming pool, buffet, etc. Our room steward kept our cabin spotless and brought clean towels and fresh ice etc. twice a day.

We ate most of our breakfasts and lunches at the Oceanview Cafe. There was a large and varied selection of food and we could always find something to eat. The staff were quick to clear plates and bring drinks. We also went there several times late night for pizza or dessert. We tried the breakfast at the spa cafe, and had lunch at the Mast grill. A few of the mornings we had a room service breakfast so we could get off the ship at 7:00. It was OK but one morning they forgot half of our food. We had select dining and really liked the flexibility. We ate in the main dining room 13 nights and really enjoyed the food and service. We just walked in between 5:30 and 9:30 and were seated within a few minutes.

Port Reviews

Oslo

We bought a ticket for the hop on hop off bus. It was waiting at the pier when we docked. A one day ticket was approx. $20. We first rode it to Vigeland Park. We spent more than an hour there looking at the sculptures. Very unusual and interesting. We then rode the bus to Akerhus fortress and visited the Resistance Museum. Our final stop was the Royal Palace. We went for the changing of the guard. It started raining and the buses were running slow. We walked back to the ship.

Aarhus

No tour necessary here. You walk off the ship and you are right in the city center. We visited the Aarhus cathedral which is the largest in Scandinavia, the Viking Museum, the Occupation Museum(really interesting to see the contrast from the one in Norway)and had time for a beer and a snack at one of the many restaurants lining the canal. This was one of our favorite ports.

Tallinn

We took the ships shuttle to the city center for $10. It was very walkable but we were saving our feet. Beautiful old town. We just wandered around for hours. Great shops - restaurants. We found great deals on Russian nesting dolls and Russian antiques.

Amsterdam

We took one of the smaller canal boats.

Stockholm

We used the hop on hop off boat right at the pier. No need to buy tickets ahead of time you can buy them right at the boat. $20. Do not use the hop on hop off bus they get stuck in traffic. Our first stop was the Vasa museum. Well worth a visit. We went into the city center. We watched the changing of the guards at the palace. They have a full marching band. Fun old town area with shopping and restaurants.

Copenhagen

We used the ships shuttle to the city center for $12. This is not walkable. It is a big city. we visited the castle and saw the Crown Jewels and the changing of the guards. We then walked to the Tivoli gardens. We had lunch there and went on a few rides. We then wandered the city And then caught the bus back to the ship.
