We had sailed on Celebrity before, generally were happy with Aqua Class.
This time, my wife took me on the Summit from Bayonne, NJ to Bermuda, sailing 8/28/16, booked into Aqua Class. As this was partly to celebrate my 65th b’day, she requested a cake for Saturday nite, to which the cruise line’s call center agreed. I called Celebrity’s call center about a week later, saying we chose not to have the cake, but could we instead have an evening in Michael’s Club to celebrate quietly. Michael (name a coincidence?) said it was up to the ship to decide, and he would email the ship and then, in turn, email with their answer/permission. Hearing nothing and with the sailing date approaching, I called 2 times, each time being told Michael was out sick (again, hmm on that coincidental name again) but they would ping the ship once more. Finally, on the Friday before sailing I called the call center who said I should check with Guest Relations as soon as I got onboard on Sunday.
Boarding went well, and I went down to Guest Relations on 3, where a representative told me the decision was not ship based but had to be made out of Corporate. I said “then the call center lied to me.” He said, they gave me “incorrect information.” I said, "no, they lied", and finally he nodded his head and agreed, saying in a low voice “they lied.” I was Ok with the truth; it was being lied to I didn’t appreciate.
I mentioned the issue with the visible holes in the sheets, above. We had mold in the corner of the shower and the door handle to the veranda was chipped/rusted to bear metal. Overall, the cabin was clean but tired.
