We chose this cruise for the itinerary and starting point of San Juan. We wanted lots of port days in interesting locations and we planned to extend our trip in PR for few days. Both ideas worked out very well. We were able to visit several of the tourist sites in NE PR, including Culebra Island and El Yunque rain forest. We had an advantage with Spanish speaking friends, including a San Juan native along. The cruise was even better than we anticipated. Not just the ports, the service was very good, friendly & fun. The Spanish speaking entertainment staff and the dining room staff stand out for excellent service and for just being fun people. The ship is very pretty even though she shows her age a bit. I understand Adventure will get a refurb in October of 2016. The Netherlands Antilles ABC islands are so cool. If you love natural wonders like reefs and caves, cactus and turquoise beaches, you can't beat Bonaire & Curacao. Aruba is cool also, but crowded and a bit spoiled by all the 4x4 riders and other off road craziness. Aruba does have a really cool port area though with excellent shopping & restaurants. There are casinos also, but we didn't partake so I can't review them. One hangup on board was the time spent to disembark. We were called an hour later than was scheduled, then stood on a customs line for 45 minutes. There were a total of 3 customs agents, which likely caused the delay. Not really something that is under RCL's control, but not fun. We used Shoreexcursioneer.com to book excursions on all 4 islands and were not disappointed. The drivers were all great, humorous & well informed. Vehicles were all air conditioned buses or vans in good shape, except on Bonaire when the van started to make a little worrisome noise, although it still chugged along. There are always some folks who love to complain about every little thing on a cruise, but I think for a ship where a balcony room is half the price of of the bigger, badder RCL ships, you can't go wrong.

Excellent Cruise for the price.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8634
Nice, clean cabin with enough balcony for 2 chairs & a table. The bed was a bit hard for me. Had a surprisingly large amount of storage space. Deck 8 center is a nice spot.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Island Tour
We extended a 4 hour tour to 7 hrs. We had a private van for our party of 6 with the tour guide and could do what we wanted. We did beach, butterfly farm, Aloe, rock formations and lunch with a really sweet lady running the tour.

We left Fajardo on a 47 foot dive special motor boat with music, food and plenty or rum drinks (for after snorkeling.) 45 minutes to Culebra. The reef snorkeling is excellent. The live coral is so close tot he surface in some areas you have to swim around it to avoid touching it.
The crew and boat were great and Flaminco beach is nice break after snorkeling.

All three excursions were combined along with Orient Beach for a break. The operator was one of the funniest guys on the entire trip. Very good.
