Traveled with children

First time cruisers, two adults, two children 11 and 9, interconnecting mini suites( not necessary but the booking is a long story) although I would do interconnecting rooms again, just smaller.

Overall conclusion, this is akin to a decent four star hotel, with obvious differences due to size and the fact it's a...boat.

Myth one - you won't know you are on a ship. Oh yes we did, often. Both from the weather and the ships vibrations. But I would agree it is generally manageable but go with sea sick tabs and accept in poor weather it can easily be felt. Beware the bay of biscay.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

Nice, generous in size. We didn't need it all with two interconnecting rooms. Movies on demand went down well.

In part you could say the bathrooms were a little tired, and a touch of rust outside, but I think this misses the point that the boat is in good condition.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Hot, and busy. Kids didn't like and we were late to acquriaum so missed out. Felt more like an adults port but I am sure you could do it much better than us.

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Looked lovely but again we didn't do well. Tender in from boat was a pain. I would have liked to explore more

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We just walked into civitavechia - after shuttle bus - and throughly enjoyed some peace and quiet. The bus drops you away from the sea promenade but you can easily find it.

A few shops, but nothing special, although we bought quite a lot from some stalls who were great to deal with - no hard sell.

I had planned to take the train to Rome, and that seems simple to do, but in the heat we decided not.

If you are not after sights, but fancy a stroll by the sea, with a few bars etc, this works

Genoa

Nice town. Quite a lot long side the port, including a submarine!

Marseille

Got the shuttle to the old port. Nice enough, usual tourist stuff, but fine

Gibraltar

Liked the town, and not a big walk, but tell that to my tired kids!

Southampton

Wind delayed embarkation
