We picked this cruise for the itinerary, price and timing. This was our first cruise and we were very happy with the service, ports of call and the food. Prior to our trip we were not sure what to expect because of the variety of the comments in the available reviews. Turns out we did not need to worry. The food was great in the main dining room with lots of variety every night, we ate there every night. We had a simple breakfast in our room most mornings because of early docking at the ports, which was what we wanted. Since we were in port most days, we had lunch while we were out exploring. We only ever saw our room steward in the halls...he very quickly figured out our habits and worked around us. There was a good mix of entertainment in the evenings - live music and theater performances.
We enjoyed exploring most of the ports on our own, however, we did select to shore excursions through Celebrity and thought that they were well organized and met our expectations.
We would definitely cruise with Celebrity again.
Neat and tidy and cozy for the two of us. It would have been nice to have a bit more room between the foot of the bed and the wall, but there was no other way to configure the room to achieve this. Then again, we were out so much this really was not an issue.
We arrived 2 days before we set sail and explored on our own. What a beautiful city - definitely want to return and spend more time here, maybe when it isn't quite a hot though.
It took us a little while to find the travel information office...it moved from the port and the directions to the new location were not that clear. Once we found the tourist office, we figured out how to get to Nice and spend the day using the Hop-on-Hop-off bus to see Nice.
We found a small group tour to see Cannes, Antibes & St. Paul de Vence. We had some time to walk around the farmers market in Antibes and more time to explore St. Paul de Vence which was the best part of this excursion.
Explored using Hop-on-Hop-off bus. This was a great way to get an overview and make a couple of stops to see more. Notre Dame de la Gard and the Old Port were our favourites.
Again, we used Hop-on-Hop-off to see the city. There was so much to see, and time in this port did not give us enough time to actually get off the bus to see much except when we were transferring between the two loops. I guess we should have done more homework so that we could pick between the two loops so we could actually see a few sites instead of just drive by them.
This was a short day in port, so we found a 2-hour walking tour that brought us to the highlights and finished at noon at the astronomical clock that puts on a show every day at noon. This was quite impressive and our tour guide did a great job explaining the city and what we were looking at.
We found our own shore excursion that took us on a tour of the island and for a wine tasting at an organic winery, Theotoky Estate. At the winery, they explained the winery operation and the olive oil pressing process as they produce both at this estate. It was worth the time.
