Our friends chose this cruise and asked us to go with them. This was our first Celebrity cruise, our 4th cruise total. We thoroughly enjoyed it, both the ship and the excursions. The embarkation was held in a convention center in Vancouver, which we found to be very efficient use of that space. Getting registered and on the ship couldn't have been easier. This is a beautiful ship, it had recently been refurbished and you could tell. After having a welcome drink of champagne, we got some lunch in the Oceanview Cafe. This food was so good; I especially loved the egg salad and the shepherd's pie. We then went to our stateroom, which was on the Aft of the ship, and met our room steward, Eddy. He was extremely attentive to our needs during the entire cruise, always had clean towels, bed was always made up (even after naps), trash always emptied. And being on the Concierge level (Deck 9), we enjoyed extra amenities, such as mid-afternoon snacks, fruit, and wine. Plus our travel agent sent us chocolates and wine.

While all the evening entertainment in the Celebrity Theater was good, we would have liked to have seen more variety. Perhaps a magician or another comedian. Didn't enjoy the first singer they booked; too cheesy. Comedian was very funny. And the ship dancers and singers were excellent; enjoyed all their performances.

We ate in the Qsine (specialty restaurant) one night, and I can't say enough about how good the food is there. You get a sample of all different kinds of goods, and it's presented in a unique and fun way. We also went to the "Taste of Film," which served a 7-course meal based on the movie being shown. Even though it was raining most of the evening, we all covered up with umbrellas and blankets and still had fun.

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

The only negative comment I would make about this room is by being directly under the Oceanview Bar, we heard so much noise from the chairs and tables being scraped across the bar deck. There doesn't seem to be any insulation between Deck 10 (where the bar is) and the Deck 9 balconies (where our room was). We paid extra to get a room in the aft of the boat, but couldn't even sleep with our balcony door open (to hear the ocean) because of this noise. I can't imagine we're the first people to notice the noise, yet nothing seems to have been done about fixing the situation. On a previous cruise, we had an aft room again but there was nothing above us so noise was not a factor. When hearing all the scraping, it felt like we were in a cheap hotel.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

After breakfast, we went to Stanley Park. It's beautiful and huge. We didn't have time to rent bikes, but walked to the totem pole displays and got postcards. We'd love to bike around the park some time.

Seward

After our cruise, we took the Big Bus from Seward to the Anchorage airport, about a 3 hour ride. On the ride, our driver gave us some history of the land we were driving by. We learned about the devastating earthquake of 1964, saw a bison, and got to see more of the beautiful land of Alaska. Comfortable seats and a bathroom on the bus.
