Arrived in Southampton by train and took taxi to Mayflower terminal. Cases were taken from us by a man with a trolley as soon as we stepped out of the car. Didn't see those again until later that day when they were placed outside our cabin. Embarkation process was quick and efficient - we were on the ship by 2.00 pm even though our allotted slot was 2.30 pm. Cabins were ready so we could go straight to them before setting off to explore. Our cabin steward introduced himself and gave us a few pointers about the ship. He was extremely friendly and helpful - couldn't fault him in any way. Our cabins were kept very clean. General cleanliness on the ship was good, however there were one or two places where floors could have been given a thorough clean. Carpets in cabins have seen better days. Evening meals were adequate. Staff in the Oriental restaurant were exemplary. Evening entertainment was of a good quality and there's something for everyone if you want to be entertained. If you don't there's plenty of bars or quiet spots to sit at. We found the buffet breakfast to be a little crazy and could not find seats on the first morning so had to sit outside on deck. Food was of a good quality for a buffet though with plenty of choice. We chose to eat in the Peninsular for a few mornings. We did one shore excursion which we thought was good value for money. A boat trip along a fjord to see pulpit rock. One major gripe that we had was the fact that you could not easily use drink package to purchase wine/prosecco in any bar or venue. For some reason it was allocated to a particular restaurant and staff did not want to go and collect wine from another location on the ship (understandable when they are busy). This is not what we were told on the phone when we purchased the wine package. I would not advise the wine package for this reason. Drinks are quite expensive and I would expect them to be slightly cheaper on a cruise ship. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and have already booked another with P&O.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom
Cabin OB B324
Cabins are in need of a refit. Carpets very tired. Technology on the TV needs to be updated. Very slow and laborious process to check your online account etc. Soundproofing was surprisingly good. We couldn't hear too much from the hallways or the adjacent cabins. Perhaps we were lucky with that and had quiet people close to us. Overall cabins are comfortable but definitely need to be modernised.
