My husband and I chose the Viking Homelands cruise as we had been on two Viking River cruises and were very taken with how well we were cared for and the great boats and itineraries. We were very excited to try the new ocean ships. This cruise went beyond our expectations!

We did the Oslo and Bergen extension. Even though we were only in Oslo for one night, we were able to pack in quite a bit. The Viking rep in the lobby gave us good help in exploring the waterfront area the first evening. After a wonderful breakfast at the hotel, we boarded a coach and toured the highlights of Oslo, including the famous Olympic ski jump, the Viking ship museum, and the sculpture garden. Then we boarded a train for the trip across the mountains to Bergen. We were impressed that we had a Viking rep with us who talked with us and treated us to lunch! Then we had an extra day in Bergen (with a tour) and a hotel stay.

On the third day, we boarded the Viking Sea. Embarkation was quick and easy. They had me whe they handed me a glass of champagne; there was a classical trio playing and they said our cabin was ready but would we like to partake of the luncheon buffet first? Here are some of the notable aspects of our cruise:

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

We upped our category so we would have more room as this was a two week cruise. The wonderful amenities are listed on the Viking website.
