The cruise was chosen because of the varied ports, however, true to RC the ship was moored at the cheapest and usually the furthest away from the port itself.RC are lying when they state it is because of the ships size, whilst a factor,it is the cost which was the reason. The enrichment was pathetic, the chap who came to speak, couldn't even work the power point and simply bumbled on about his glory days as an airline pilot, when questioned about some of his assertions he became decidedly uncomfortable. The out door cinema was good but the films were hardly block busters and all day every day Disney Classics can get a bit wearing. Also the screen is damaged, not repaired. The pool bar staff cannot be bothered, everything is an inconvenience, especially if you have a drinks package and hence they don't make any tips.If you are lucky enough to get to the bar,you are met with a thinly disguised disdain. If you are considering this ship, please chose an alternative. The Independence of The Seas,is in need of a dramatic makeover. The public rooms are tired and dirty. The food is Unremarkable and the service lurches from the sycophantic to the down right rude.Everything is done for their convenience,if you are on a table for two you will wait until the table for eight next door have ordered before your food will be brought up enmasse, cold. This was a July cruise and was over run by screaming kids, who fouled the pool, spoilt the little entertainment there was and generally ran a mock whilst their parents made the Moët of their drinks packages. The ports are fine, but beware the passengers debarkation are at times dangerous. The ship is dirty and the area around the pools is unhygienic,in particular the ice cream machine,I saw a woman change a babies nappy, not wash her hands,go to the machine ,handle a cone and then walk away. The pool staff are useless, people put towels out at 8 am and then went on a trip. When asked to move their belongings at 1pm,the attendant said he couldn't as they "might come back".In any event it is a deeply unpleasant experience the sun beds are broken and filthy, there are no gaps and quite literally touching the next one. The solarium is a joke,by 09:00 you don't stand a chance of getting a seat. The help desk are inept, poorly organised and contradictory. We have been on many RC cruises,as well as Celebrity,Azamara,P and O and NCL.We will never sail again with them.Too many corners have been cut,it is certainly an experience, but not a good one.

Cabin Review

Cabin
The state room attendant made it clear, her hours were between 9-1 and 5-9 on the first day.Her audible tuts as we inconvenienced her by daring to be in our room when she wanted to wipe a dirty cloth over it was a little surprising.
