Although we've cruised many times with Celebrity, this was our first voyage on the Solstace. It is a beautiful ship and very well maintained. We sailed round trip from Seattle. The crew was very good but no one stood out as exceptional. I've found that is pretty much the case on all Celebrity cruises these days. Service is always good but never great, as it used to be. The service and the cuisine in the dining room was quite good. No complaints at all. The buffet was mediocre at best. Overall, our experience was very good and we plan to sail to Australia on the solstace this March. One thing I would like to point out, we always book aft cabins as we find its usually a convenient location. However, our aft cabin (7354) was very inconvenient on this ship. For one thing there are no stairs or elevators so we had to walk mid ship to get anywhere but the most annoying part was that the room steward set up his cleaning cart outside our cabin every day. Each time I opened our door, the first thing I saw was his cart, 3 ft in front of me. Also, that cabin has a partially obstructed view, which I did'nt know prior to booking. No big deal but it is something I should have been informed of. Our cabin steward was just okay. In my opinion, Celebrity has really gone downhill in that area. I was never able to reach him.
Partially obstructed. Rather inconvenient location with cleaning cart set up just outside the door.
I love Seattle! However, I didn't realize how crowded it is in the summer. There are several cruise ships that dock there each weekend during the summer months. It was so incredibly crowded, some things that I really wanted to do, like Pike Market was just out of the question. It was quite literally elbow to elbow an we only stayed about 15 minutes before I had to get out of there.
