We decided to go on this cruise for a number of reasons .We had never been to Alaska before and wanted to see this majestic place ,as we have heard the views were fantastic . and this turned out to be very true .I truly enjoyed the mountain's and the emerald and turquoise waters, That was really a surprise to us as we did not imagine those colors of water were in that part of the world .It was a 14 day as we like longer cruises .We have been on a few Grand cruises as long as 89 days .We are four star and enjoy that status. We also wanted a relaxed atmosphere as we were told Alaska cruise was .For us it was different as we usually travel to warm places ,or very exotic ports where there is a lot to see and do .Most of the ports we did on our own as the excursions were a bit pricey .We had a good time over all .We were able to see animals and Eagles' at various places in the ports and also the salmon swimming upstream is a site to see .The weather was good for the most part some sun some rain and clouds . The ship was nice we have been on the Maasdam before to other destinations.

Our cabin was an ocean view on the fourth level mid ship and was just fine with us. Our cabin man was fantastic and kept it very clean and enjoyable .We ate breakfast either in the lido or by room service and both were very good .The food overall was satisfactory not the best or the worst. The singers and dancers were wonderful and were very enjoyable. We went to every show .The other entertainment was good also .I found the service good as well .I don't think we would go again as once was enough for us but we are planning another long Asia cruise with HAL next October 2017 on the Amsterdam .

We love to cruise and will continue to travel until we are not able to .God willing that will be a long time from now .Hope to see you cruising sometime .

Port Reviews

Seattle

We arrived two days before cruise departure and explored Seattle.

Ketchikan

We went to see the Salmon at this port .It was very interesting .there are lots of shops there also but pricey .

Anchorage

We went to the zoo here which was enjoyable

Kodiak

Not much at his port just more shops with the same items as other ports

Sitka

Went to fortress of the bears and also the Raptor center .The highlight for me was the show with the Eagle on the trainers arm up close .

What a magnificent bird .No wonder it is the US symbol .

Victoria

Really nice to explore lively and lovely city .
