  • Sail Date: Aug 2016
  • Destination: the Western Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Grand Suite

My wife and I mainly choose Carnival Liberty because of the Port is was sailing out of (Galveston) and for a long weekend getaway. We sailed Carnival back in 2000 & 2001 and had not sail on them until now, a lot has change (for the better)

We were surprised, very nice ship and staff were all friendly, nice and informative. Normally we have been sailing with Disney and Princess. Back to this cruise, Some highlights were The Chef's Table, Diamonds Steakhouse & the Ship Tour. Had fun in the Casino. Our Stateroom was very nice (Grand Suite) Lot of fun things to do on the ship, entertainment was very nice, fun, funny & exciting. Getting on and off the ship was seamless.

The excursion was just ok..."La Casa en La Playa - A Select Retreat" beach water very rocky, not much sand, Food was served and it was great, drinks were great. They had a swimming pool, it was very nice. Staff were very friendly and nice. Found cig buts all over. If you go, spray yourself down with bug spray before you leave, everyone got major mosquitoes bites. One lady went into the water and her foot got hit by a stingray, very painful, lots of blood. Yuck. If you go, pick out a spot quickly, only a few nice shaded areas. We won't do that one again.

We did have very nice weather throughout the whole cruise. We would go on this cruise again soon. Oh great Eggs Benedicts I've had on any cruise ship.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite
Cabin GS 7299

Big, good value, bed was very comfortable, Big bathroom, LOTS of storage. Bring your own blowdryer, the one in the room was not good. Two sinks in the room & 2 sinks in the batroom, desk, vanity, we bought a power strip. Dennis was our Room Steward (very nice) Room was quiet, no creaking or other other weird noises. Everything functioned as expected. In the bathroom you get bar soap, Shampoo, Body Wash gel. No Hand/Body lotion or Hair conditioner.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Galveston

Parking was ok. Outside parking, there is inside parking, but book it only prior to your cruise. People are rude and smoked... Not a fun way to start a cruise, oh well, it only took about 20 min to park and get to the terminal.

Private Resort Day Pass

"La Casa en La Playa - A Select Retreat" ok, nice pool, good food and drinks. But may never go again. Bring bug spray, use it before you leave to ship.
