We will never sail on Royal Caribbean again. This was our 45th cruise and we have sailed on Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian and Holland America. We have never had an experience like we did on Freedom of the Seas. We have sailed on Royal Caribbean since 1990 so we are Crown & Anchor members. We traveled with our two daughters,- 24 and 19 years old, but they have never sailed Royal Caribbean so we thought we would try it with them. When we arrived at the port, we were heading to priority boarding, but were told that our daughters had to go in the "regular" line. Why break up a family during the check in process?? We brought them to the priority line and asked if they would check them in and the answer was yes. Then when we got on the ship we asked to purchase the wine package. We were told that they discontinued that package and we had to buy the entire drink package for over $400 per person. This was not an option since we don't drink that much. We walked 50 feet and asked another crew member about it and he said they still have the wine package. Inconsistency!! We went through the safety drill and it was a joke. There were no officers present and we couldn't see the demo. I'm sure they broke all sorts of laws with this drill. Then we went to Guest Services and got in the priority line which is where we were told to go. The crew member was very nice and gave us his card. Then the next time we were there they said the priority line was only for GOLD cards. We had the word "Gold" printed on our card but it wasn't gold in color. Another inconsistency! Also the Windjammer buffet is crowded and many people are unable to find a seat! We ate there once for breakfast and ordered an omelette. the omelette was cold and overcooked. Therefore we tried the dining room for breakfast. However they close exactly at 10 am. We were one minute late and they refused to seat us! This happened on another day as well. My daughter went to guest services to ask if she could get our room number. I understand that they could not give it out, but instead security came to our room to say that our daughters were fighting and they suspected abuse!! They read us the riot act and made it seem like we were going to thrown off the ship!! I went to guest services and complained about all of the above. I did this on two separate occasions with two different crew members, but to no avail. Nothing was done. Needless to say, we were ready to go home. We decided to go off the ship as early as possible. My oldest daughter put money on her card to spend on the ship but had money leftover. We figured that the cruise line would send her a check. Well, this is not true. Instead they detained us when we were leaving the ship and demanded that we go to guest services about our daughter's account. She went to the desk but the line was too long and we needed to catch our flight. She came back up and we started to go off the ship and security came and detained us again and said if we leave we will be detained at customs!!! We were very upset. Security finally called guest services and put my daughter on the phone with them. My daughter said that they could keep the money. We just want to get off the ship. Security finally let us go. What a huge slap in the face. Like I said, no more RCCL for me. I'm going back to Carnival where I'm a platinum member and am treated with respect and wonderful customer service. I advise others to stay away from Royal Caribbean as well. They get you on the ship with all the extras such as the whirlpools, climbing wall, ice rink, etc., but then these items are available only a few hours a day at inconvenient times. All our hard earned money was wasted on the Freedom of the Seas. I do like the ports of call and will return to them on another cruise line.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

It was nice to be overlooking the promenade deck but the walls in our cabin were very thin. I could hear snoring and talking from the people in the next room!!

Port Reviews

Cozumel

We went to Mr. Santos' resort and it was great. All you can eat and drink all day. They have two pools and a beautiful beach.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Seven Mile beach is so very beautiful!

Falmouth

We took a history tour with the Falmouth government. Very interesting.

Labadee

Too much selling from the cruise line and also from the locals.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

We went to Cocoa Beach a day before the cruise and really enjoyed it. Also, we witnessed a rocket launch only a mile from our hotel.
