The ship was a nightmare. The ship was dirty with paint peeling everywhere and wallpaper peeling in the dining room and hallways. The hallways always smelled stale when not smelling with marijuana and the carpeting was dirty and stained. (We called security one night because the marijuana smell was coming from under the door into our stateroom. We were told unless we saw it happen, nothing could be done.) One wall had about ten wads of gum pressed into the corner all week. I had no a/c in my room all week. (I actually had to go down to/call desk services 5 times to complain about the a/c. It wasn’t until Friday of that week, 5 days into the cruise, that another person came with a thermometer. I made sure this time I was there when he took the reading. He stated yes, it I very warm in here. Tuesday, earlier that week, they brought me a noisy desk fan as a remedy. A/C was never fixed.) The food was always over-cooked and most was flavorless. The breakfast and lunch buffets in terms of variety and quality were the same every day poor, uninteresting and cold. When it came time for organization, it was like they never had done it before. We waited in the Liquid lounge for over 90 minutes before leaving for an excursion in the Dominican Republic, then everyone left at the same time and crammed through one doorway. That particular excursion was amazing due to the fact that your company did not run the luxury villa. On their own private island, which was beautiful, we rented a two story cabana which seemed great, however, the bathroom looked like it was never cleaned and there were wasps flying in and out of the shower. The bbq was another nightmare. They were barbecuing in the same place you waited for food so the entire structure was filled with smoke. All the burgers for blackened and burnt and inedible. It also took over 25 minutes of standing in this smoke to get your food and also was again, unorganized. We waited over 30 minutes to get inedible food.

We also had sewage back up into our bathroom.

Some of us bought wine packages only later to find out that they didn't have the wine advertised. I also ordered a bottle of wine only to be told to 20 minutes before dinner was over that they didn't have it and then 5 minutes after that they found it. One bar by the pool ran out of rum, so no Piña Coladas that day. Our wait staff was very friendly but very, very slow. I have been on 9 other cruises. 2 Princess cruises and 7 Disney Cruises. This was my first and last Carnival cruise.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony

Cabin 8S

It was dirty, stale smelling. The toilet backed up. Walls are so thin you could hear your neighbors cursing and playing loud rap music. Marijuana smell came under the door from hall. A/C didn't work. Sheets had hair on them when we arrived.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

The Luxury Villa was amazing. Best excursion I have ever taken. Staff was fantastic, for was amazing. Could have done without the sales pitch for to by a time share at these villas.
