We chose the cruise because of the wonderful time the family, eleven of us in total, had on the Magic in the Mediterranean. The embarkation was alright but it seemed like the staff were pressured. The ship at a glance seemed nice. My wife is handicapped and our two grandsons were with us and when we got to the room I could not believe how small it was and my wife could not use the shower. I talked to the purser who was very apologetic and urged me to go the service desk to request assistance. I was by then fuming and asked to speak to the manager, the gentleman at the desk asked me to please let him know what the issue was. I explained and after 5 minutes he came back and escorted me to an accessible room which was wonderful, the staff moved our luggage to the new room and I took heart that things would be good after that. We found as time went by that the food was average in all the restaurants. The fast food on deck eleven was better than the formal restaurants. We informed our restaurant staff what we thought of the food and they apologized but I know there was nothing they could do about it so we left some plates more full than empty. You would think the kitchen would figure it out from comments and the amount of uneaten food! The servers we had were superb and engaged the kids with puzzles and games every evening, we would eat what we could then would go to deck 11 to finish eating something better. The public areas seemed no larger than the areas on the Magic and now much more crowded. If you jumped in the pools I don't think you would have hit the bottom for all the people. We scheduled to snorkeling trips on our own, not through Disney, on Tortola and St. Thomas, they were great. An example of the public area issue is O'Gill's pub, if was smaller than on the Magic and not near as nice. The waiter was not very good either. Overall the staff tried very hard to compensate for the environment but were obviously strained, some in the stores were under-trained. The movie and live stage theaters were nice.Everywhere we went was overcrowded and not very pleasant. We were all excited to get to Castaway Key and due to my wife's walking issue they asked us to sit on a bench in the sun, after 15 minutes we asked the cruise director if the taxi was coming and she promised if was coming. After another 10 minutes and a call from our family asking where we were we just walked to the tram and made our own way. A staff member at one of the island stores stated he did not know were to get something as he just came off the ship and did not know much. Another passenger told us were to go get the item we were looking for. The point here is the staff is under-trained and overwhelmed, this is overall Disney's poor management. I have to say I was happy to get off the ship. We will not do a Disney cruise again after this experience. The value is just is not worth the cost anymore. Disney smothered the magic with their efforts to make the almighty dollar! I hope that Disney World is not managed like this now or we won't be going there in the future either.

Cabin Review

The first cabin we were assigned was totally unacceptable, The second room we received was much better.
