We chose this Rhine,Main and Danube Cruise for the itinerary. It was our first river cruise although we have done many ocean cruises. Our impressions and opinions were the same as those of BEARS 2 in another review although on a different cruise. The Grand Balcony Suite was just adequate with regard to space but the layout of storage space was poor. Not enough hanging room and too many large drawers. The food was good quality but not over inspiring as the menu was dictated by the Company and not by the Chef. The dining room, lounge and swimming pool areas were very nice and spacious. The Cruise Director and all the staff were excellent. The places we visited were varied from small towns to large cities and we saw some very interesting and beautiful sights.

On the downside, docking places were often a long way from the towns and at one port a long way from the transfer coach. For people with walking difficulties it is unsuitable. It was a punishing itinerary and we were exhausted by the end of it as were several other people we spoke to. The daily routine was quite regimented with respect to the daily port talks and dining times which are dictated by the size of the ship, the size of the galley and the number of passengers. Another problem which didn't affect us was that the Sun deck was closed for several days as there were several low bridges to sail under. One other point we hadn't considered was that when docked alongside another ship the balcony view is non existent and even on a sunny day lights are needed in the cabin.

Cabin Review

Cabin Grand Balcony Suite

Poor layout with regard to wardrobe space being limited by the fridge and safe. No mirror in the main room and poor lighting for the one near the door. The toilet was very low and there wasn't a handle to help.
