We booked with NCL on the Gem because our son had previously gone with them. I found the ship to be just the right size for us. I have little interest in the new big ships. I am one of those people who has to check the map at the elevators to see which way to go, "What floor is that on again?"

Great crew. All so nice. Service was great everywhere on the ship. We did specialty and dining rooms for most meals but enjoyed the cookouts and buffet as well.

Our 7 year old grandson loved Splash Academy and he is no one to leave his parents side very often. He and I had a special date for ice cream each day after dinner. Our 16 year old grandson said it was his best vacation ever. Recommend paying for ship phone service(9.99 week) for groups to let each other know where to meet and when (stairs to Pacific Dining at 5:30). We are booked on the Gem again for April.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Balcony

Cabin B1

Some people say NCL cabins are smaller and I will agree, but I'm not taking a cruise for what my cabin offers.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

The port Customs area can get very crowded and warm. Be prepared to wait. Not NCL's fault.

Great Stirrup Cay

Bring lots of sunscreen and your snorkel gear

Nassau

Get thru the gated area and explore on your own.
