Embarkation went smoothly - short wait in the hall due to the queue. Ship was brilliant, obviously still quite new, staff very friendly and everywhere cleaning all the time. We had an inside cabin for 3 which was fine. More than enough room for us to hang out and storage. Turned the TV on each morning to view the webcams to see the view. Dining very good, tried MDR, buffet and speciality Italian, guys burgers etc.., had room service too. Enjoyed all of them - but the MDR was our favourite. We had anytime dining and never had to wait. Entertainment: we used the IMAX which was brilliant, watched the dive in movies - loads of space to see/sit (free popcorn), played mini golf - went on the sky ride and sky course which were great. Staff very helpful on these for us old folk! We also did the Cat in the Hat breakfast - which had lots of colourful food! Cabin attendant on deck 8 brilliant. We used Carnival for most of our shore excursions as they included some long distances. Our favourites were in Marseille - Arles, also Pisa, and Vesuvius/pompeii trips. I thought they were all well priced and great. Our prettiest ports were without doubt Dubrovnik, Messina and Corfu Town. My son isn't the type to enjoy running around the ship with packs of other kids, and he really enjoyed this ship - we found our most favourite place on the ship was the Red Frog Pub - it was quiet in the day, we enjoyed the pub quiz, we sat here and played cards/read on our sea days in a nice relaxing atmosphere. Didn't fancy sitting with the hoard of other British holiday makers in the sunbeds. We used this cruise to see the sights of Europe (not to sit on ship all day and top up our tans - although it looked like those who did this also had a good time) and it was brilliant. Quite hard going the first 5 days as it was port intensive and extremely hot. We are hoping to book again on the next Carnival new ship in Europe in 2018. Overall a very relaxing ship with not too many 'rules' and lots of 'quiet' spaces to be found. Didn't make it to all the bars so still plenty to see! There was lots of moaning about tax being add to purchases because we were in Europe - and it was a bit sneaky it wasn't mentioned before we left BUT it certainly didn't ruin our holiday and wasn't an issue.

Sights of Europe in the hot summer, with great comfortable cabin to relax in.

Cabin Review

Interior
Cabin 4G 8371
3 of us in this very quiet inside cabin. Great aircon - bathroom great size. Lots of hot water, no issues at all. Plenty of room and great cabin attendant. At first the wardrobe looked small - but once we'd sorted out clothes out there was ample space and a drawer each and a shelf.... Another shelving area near the TV and bedside tables. So it was fine. Beds very comfortable and lovely dark at night, no noise really as far enough away from lifts etc... And not near public spaces.

  • Corfu
Walked into the old town and visited the Old Fort - climbed to the top for the view , amazing - loved Corfu Town lots of narrow streets selling all sorts, you feel like you get lost but you end up ok in the end! It was really hot when we visited but we walked in just fine about 20 mins...... Great port - can't wait to return

Beautiful port - caught the shuttle to the old town and met some friends, wandered around - spotting all the Game of Thrones sights. Very cheap an icecream less than a GB pound. Had lunch in a restaurant made to feel very welcome, get the feeling the Croatian people are really pleased to have visitors - not a rip off place - cheapest fridge magnet all holiday!

Coach to Pisa, then small train tour and visit to tower and church included, our guide David was great - liked the 'echo demonstration' in the baptistry.

Took the Vesuvius followed by Pompeii tour. Brilliant. Up the volcano in the morning - great views, not too hot - quiet strenuous though... take water. Pompeii was really hot but we had a brilliant guide who took us to some great spots we wouldn't have found on our own.

  • Rome on Your Own
Great guide giving loads of information on the coach journey. Ample time in Rome on a really hot day in August. Pre-booked the underground and third ring tour of Colosseum which was amazing, and then ate, then wandered around the Forum until time to go.

Didn't know anything at all about this place, but it is brilliant. Pre-historic kind of fort, built into he ground in rocks, wear sensible shoes and it was just fine. Lots of walking up and down steps and rocks, great guide very enthusiastic. Quiet site, nice to be away from the crowds.

  • Mount Etna
Mount Etna is about 2 hours away so be aware of that - Amazing drive though - beautiful sights and we called in at a jewellery factory on return - amazing villa, with no obligation to buy, also given snacks there! Mount Etna was crowded but amazing we didn't visit the bar they recommended as too busy - we went another one, and it was easier to use the facilities and cheaper
