Overall the cruise was good, but there were some aspects we were disappointed with. The ship is beautiful and we were happy with our accommodations – the balcony stateroom and balcony were large and clean. However, the meals in the Tides Dining Hall were average at best. We ate dinner there 3 times, and I only liked the entrée once, that was the tiger shrimp. The appetizers and desserts were all good but the cod and the steak entrees I had were very plain tasting, so I did not enjoy them. We ate at Chops Grill once and were disappointed. I thought the shrimp cocktail had a chlorine taste to it. The filet mignon was not as tasty or tender as I expected. Last year, we sailed on Freedom of the Seas and their Chop’s Grill was great. Their shrimp cocktail was amazing and their filet mignon was delicious and very tender. There was a difference with the service and the food quality of the Chop’s Grill and we felt it was better on the Freedom. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer almost everyday and found the variety and taste of the food to be good.

I was disappointment with some of the entertainment. I found myself bored with many of the shows in the theatre. I will say that the smaller ship meant that it was less crowded, so there was less waiting to tender - which is very nice. We enjoyed the itinerary overall.

We really enjoyed Santorini, Athens and Crete. We were disappointed that the ship stopped in Turkey. Our cruise took place less than two weeks after the coup in Turkey. There was a state of emergency declared in Turkey two days before we stopped there and Royal Caribbean still thought it was a good idea to go there. Most other cruise lines had eliminated Turkey from their itinerary earlier in the year due to safety concerns. The U.S. had issued a travel warning for Turkey as well. We believe that Royal Caribbean put financial interests in front of the safety of its passengers. For this reason, next time we will travel with another cruise line which puts safety first, so it won’t be Royal Caribbean.
