Our family group included 3 adults, 2 teens and 3 generations. We started a day early in Anchorage and took the Denali 11 day express. The Lakefront Hotel was lovely and helpful. Prices, of course for meals and such, were high but we expected that. We took the $30. pontoon plane ride over Anchorage and that was wonderful. I recommend this flight Our planned helicopter ride up to a glacier was canceled due to weather and we were so happy we had the sea plane experience. A portion of our trip up to Denali was by rail A beautiful trip The purchased food on board was some of the best o the entire trip. We were able to view many scenic areas that would not have been possible by bus.
We were fortunate to have a 3/4 view of Mt. Denali (the rest covered by clouds) on the way up. The hotel was rustic and clean. 0430 came way too early but it was worthwhile to see the view sand animals of the park. Our family divided into 2 group, the early 7 hour interior excursion and the regular 5 hour. There is al line of shops near the hotel. I recommend burying from those that have the made in Alaska signs. I had an $11. reindeer hot dog. Nothing special.
We returned to the Lakefront Anchorage for the night. BTW, we found a nice reasonable priced little restaurant, the Chinook, nearby with a good breakfast. While in Anchorage we went to a recommended restaurant, Humpys. Great! Try the halibut or cod fish and chips. We preferred the Cod, Try the Blueberry cobbler, we bought 2 for 5 people and all were satisfied. Our second favorite meal in Alaska.
Clean with a great ocean view. Even though it says it fits 5 don't try to sleep more than 3. Bathroom was a tiny bit bigger tan most but had the same shower curtain that made the floor wet.
Beds were comfy with the newish sani-type method of making up the linens. Temperature was easy to control after we called maintenance They sent us a sweet plate of chocolate dipper strawberries and wine for our inconvenience.
We did not hear any noise from the hall nor other rooms. Nice and quiet.
