We chose this cruise and ship for the Alaska experience.
Our check in process was hours long due to slow computers. Not starting off well.
We stayed in the Haven. People in the cabin next door were smoking. Our cabin was smoke filled. Security notified-they did not even come up to investigate. No follow up. This continued all week. Extremely disappointing.
The crew was average (this was our 10th cruise). We experienced long waits for food at the specialty restaurants and staff that told us to "just go to the buffet after the meal" so they did not have to "go downstairs" to get certain items which were part of the meal.
Sports courts are used all day by the kids club and closed at 5. Shuffleboard also is locked up by 8 (even though the sun is up until 10).
The spa is again average. 6 colors to choose from for manicures and pedicures. They messed up the timing our scheduled mani/pedi---even after the concierge had scheduled them himself and then were quite rude when I did not want to be separated from my 9 year old daughter.
Alaska is amazing. That is the reason everyone is on the ship and nothing can ruin the experiences you have while on shore.
However, with all of the choices available, I would not cruise Alaska on the Jewel.
The cabin itself is wonderful.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite. Plenty of room.
