Our third cruise with Thomson, have to say the best! After reading the reviews we were slightly wary but decided to have an open mind and as we have cruised with Thomson before we decided to make our on mind up. Not sure what people have to moan about, the quality of the food, was excellent. Yes there was sometimes a queue in the Lido but it wasn't too long and it was at the busy times of lunch or when people wanted to disembark! We ate in the evening in the Orion restaurant and despite having to queue at busy times it never took too long and on all but two evenings we were able to have a table for two. The meal selection in the restaurant rivals restaurants which have stars or pretentious names. The executive chef and the food and beverage team have to be recommended for catering to all tastes. The presentation of the food was great, the food was always hot despite having to be bought from the kitchens and the service was fantastic, the waiters and wine waiters always ready to top up your glass and remove plates when you have finished but in a timely and professional manner.

We were always able to find a sun lounger, yes if you want to be on the top deck then you have to be up early, we would go ashore in the morning and then find a space on the promenade deck.

The trips are a mixed bag, it you want to visit certain sites then organised trips are worth it as it includes admission, the service of a guide and the certainty of being back on time. If you simply want to visit the local area then doing your own thing is great. We did this in Chania, Mykonos and Kusadasi. Read more
