Our second trip on the Spirit, first was three years ago. She has had a refit since then and has new eating options. Main atrium, dining and theatre are still the same. Embarkation was painful as always and things weren't helped by a computer system breakdown. If they say 2.30-3.30 they mean it. People were asked to leave the line because they tried to board early. Embarkation took approx. 90mins. Great staff on the Spirit almost without exception especially Eli (cruise director) and Loyd (comedy club manager), who is great at 'keeping it real'. Shows in the Pharaohs Palace were fantastic and better than anything on our previous cruises. I was dubious about the hypnotist but it was an absolute blast. Comedy shows most evenings with PG offerings early and r18 late.....like 11pm. Serenity deck (adults only) still very popular and you will need to grab a pod before 10am on sea days. Port days are much less crowded because most people go ashore. New eating options (free) such as Guys Burgers and Blue iguana were great and the Backyard chicken at Fat Jimmys BBQ is awesome. The ship is well stocked with bars and cocktails generally run $11.50 while beers $7-9, so it's easy to build a decent tab over 12 days. One irksome thing is the coffee which is still rubbish. The lido cafe and fountain cafe both have baristas where you can buy coffee but both offerings were burnt so I gave up and drank tea. Every evening the room service staff give you a program for everything that is happening the following day - take a highlighter. The movie screen at the main pool was new for us and something we really enjoyed on other cruises. Really enjoyed our second time round on the Spirit, and if they offered a Papua New Guinea itinerary we would be booking our third.

Cabin Review

Interior
Cabin 4C 6193
We enjoy inside cabins as they are dark, quiet and has loads of storage space. No external noise from plant or entertainment.
Bed was a bit hard but our lovely steward (Ronald) added a mattress topper after the first night.

Cons: Pillows are very soft and only one 240v powerpoint, power boards are verboten.

Shower has budget shampoo and body wash but I always take my own. Water pressure is ok but temperature does oscillate.
