We like to try different ships, and hope it will be one of HAL's.

We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to embark and disembark. They have it down pat. We took advantage of their luggage service that checked us, and our bags in with the airlines. About 2 days before disembarkation, they provided us with our airline luggage tags and boarding passes.

It was so nice not having to wait in line to check in at the airlines. We were also able to enjoy several hours in Seattle without lugging around our suitcases prior to our flight back home.

We have been on other Alaskan cruises on other cruise lines. This was our first with HAL, and Ms Maasdam is the smallest ship we have sailed. We chose it because it allowed us to visit Homer, Sitka and Kodiak for the first time. I don't know if it's the norm for Ms Maasdam, but we never tendered at any of the smaller ports. Though the weather was cold and wet, we still enjoyed going ashore.

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin J

The beds were comfortable. It seemed just slightly larger than other inside cabins we have tried on other cruise lines we have been on. This provided good storage, but wished the shower stall was slightly larger.
