My husband and I wanted to show our granddaughters 13 and 16 the capitals of Northern Europe and in spite of cheaper options of Holland America and others ($90 a day per person) chose Serenade of the Seas ($150) thinking the quality of food and entertainment will be better. It was just the opposite. Lots of canned/frozen vegetables, cheesy-greasy dishes at Windjammer, not even the once-per cruise lobster for everybody at the formal night dinner we were served on all our former cruises (Westerdam, H-A 2010, Zaandam, H-A 2013, Liberty of the Seas, RC Barcelona -Canary Islands- Fort Lauderdale November 2014, and Celebrity Millenium 2015). Windjammer schedule was haphazard to accommodate guests participating in RC shore excursions, and it was not even reflected in the daily programs delivered to the cabin. Dinner there should start at 5 pm, not 6:30. The same happened in the dining room - chaos of "open seating" on two nights. We had diarrhea for a couple of days (Windjammer was closed for lunch one day for deep cleaning we were told).

There were no toiletries in the cabin upon arrival except one bar of soap for both the washing basin and shower. After standing in line at the guest service desk, we were informed that we should REQUEST them from the steward (who did not even come to welcome us as we arrived). A NOTE in the bathroom would be an easy solution.

The entertainment lacked refinement and options. Deafening volume (despite repeated petitions) spoiled the few we wanted to attend. "Enrichment" seminars were 95% meant to enrich RC not the participants with new knowledge of the rich history of the region.
