Embarkation was easy - walk on with no lines We were in Aqua class, room 1110. Room steward, Sandy, was efficient without hovering. Room was always made up when should have been. Fresh fruit and beverage left in the room for us. Pretty "sitting area" outside room with loveseat and two comfortable chairs for use by guests in area-I never saw anyone using the area. The maitre d' in the Aqua dining room, David, and his staff are wonderful. By the second meal in the area you feel like you are being greeted by old friends. If you wanted something that wasn't on the menu but available at another restaurant they would get it for you. (I went in the first morning with a packet for a breakfast shake. They made it for me and had the soy milk on hand for every morning we had breakfast there.) Rich the social director was just one of the other staff/crew that made the cruise so much fun. The entertainment was great, with the exception of one of the comics, who we almost walked out on. (Very unfunny song about stuttering.) Production shows were outstanding-singers and dancers put on quite a show. Don't miss the adult show at 11 pm-best show of the cruise. The aerialists are not to be missed. We looked forward to Rich's evening words of wisdom, as the final curtain came down, and his unlimited, or so it seems, collection of socks. The crew vs. guest water volleyball was a riot. Although I believe there was some creative score keeping going on it was fun to watch-again with Rich stealing the show with his bathing suit. The lunchtime ice cream man was a riot. Asking adults if they had eaten their lunch before he would dispense their ice cream. The ship was easy to get around, not being too large. Plenty to do aboard, if you wanted to do something. Plenty of areas to relax if you wanted to do nothing. Celebrity is definitely our favorite cruise line. While onboard we booked our next cruise - even before this one sailed.

We need a vacation to recover from our vacation!

Cabin Review

Aqua Class Balcony
Cabin A1 1110
Nice cabin at the back of the ship, on the side. Easy to walk down one flight to get something to drink at the Ocean Buffet. Sports deck was overhead but wasn't a problem.
Sandy, the room steward, kept the room tidy and well stocked of towels, fresh fruit and a drink. Common area sitting area was lovely-but never used.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • City Tour
Bus tour of Nice, Monaco and Monte Carlo. Tour guide would tell us about someplace, arrange a common meeting area and leave us to wander on our own. Monaco was lovely-just where you would expect to find a princess.

  • Pompeii
Although the cruise line rated the excursion "moderate" for activity level we felt it was strenuous, perhaps because it was extremely hot the day we were there. Ruins were comparable to other ruins of the same time period (I thought of Masada in Israel).
We earned how cameos were made, at a shop at the base of Pompeii. Stop at a farm to learn how mozzarella and ricotta were made, with samples of both, with procuitto and wine.

  • Jewish Quarter
Gentleman met us in the Jewish quarter and gave us a personal tour of the ghetto, synagogue and museum. He seemed to know everyone we encountered.

We were originally unable to book this tour as there was an age restriction. Thanks to Marco the Destination concierge he was able to obtain a ticket for my husband. After taking the tour we're not sure what the concern was over as it was not a strenuous trip.
Drive to park to see waterfalls. Turned out to be a national holiday so park was packed, which made leaving a long, hot process while we waited for the bus.
