Chose this cruise as it sailed RT Seattle and offered our first glimpse of Alaska. We will have to go back some day to do a land tour. Really enjoyed the small towns we stopped in. Hi-lights were: Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour in Ketchikan. 26 Glacier Cruise would have been outstanding had the weather cooperated. We still enjoyed it, but got very wet and could not see all that we could have had the skies been clear. Hoonah Tribal Show. Victoria, BC pedi-cab tour to see the castle & gardens. The Maasdam is an older ship and is showing signs of wear. It could use a major sprucing up to make it more attractive. We had a Lanai Suite which we really enjoyed. It is a tad on the small size, but did include a very small seating area with a desk. We use the desk to collect junk. It was great to be able to walk onto the Lower Promenade deck. I think it allowed us to be more social, than had we had a balcony cabin. Open Dining was a problem in that we had to wait 45 minutes the first two nights. After that we went earlier, so that we could try to catch the 8 PM show. Food was mostly very good. Wine stewards did not attend to us frequently enough, resulting in us not buying as much wine at dinner. We starting getting a glass before dinner and taking it in with us. The service was superb!! Really enjoyed the staff, especially at the Explorers Cafe.

Enjoyed our cruise despite the weather (It rained every day in Alaska!)

Cabin Review

Lanai Ocean-View Stateroom
Cabin CA 333
Nice choice for us. Mid-ship with sliders to deck. A little small, but bathroom was good size. Tub had very high sides, so it was hard to get in and out of. Small sitting area - really cramped for both of us.
Lower Promenade Deck Inside Cabins, Outside Cabins
