We chose this cruise because it was for my 70th birthday. One of my wishes on my" bucket list' was fulfilled. I wanted to be on a big ship in rough seas - having spent many days on yachts, cruise vessels etc in calm waters really wanted to experience rough seas on a big ship. this happened the first day out from Sydney when the North Coast of NSW was hit with a huge LOW, with heavy rain and wind. The seas were large with huge swells but DAWN, the Captain and crew handled it brilliantly, so did we.. We were travelling with friends who also helped celebrate my birthday and on the birthday morning thought I would have a 'sleep-in' only to be woken at 4am with the sound of water gushing out from our bathroom. Apparently the pipe behind the toilet had burst and water was going everywhere. We used every towel we could find, stopped the water from actually reaching our bed, called for help which arrived about 5 mins later and it was all stopped within about 10 mins. End of sleep in?? Staff were excellent, very efficient, gave us a lovely plate of petit-fours to enjoy that night and a few days later even replaced the underfelt in our room. The shows in both Theatres were very entertaining and couldn't complain about anything with one exception. We enjoyed all the food so much that even though I had indicated I would only eat a small salad for lunch each day other lovely delicacies somehow appeared on my plate which had to be consumed, fortunately I did not put on any additional weight which was an added bonus., Think walking around the Promenade deck about 9 times = at a sprightly pace = perhaps helped.
