We chose this cruise to celebrate our parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. Overall we were disappointed with the service. According to Cunard, on Thursday 23 June the QM2 flagship returned to Southampton, remastered. Over the course of her refit, the interior and exterior of the flagship was transformed. We looked forward to enjoying our vacation on an updated ship.

We all agreed that the décor was beautiful and genuinely appreciated the cleanliness of the ship. However, the service left much to be desired. It seemed that most of the staff did not really want to be bothered with pleasing the passengers; they were just there to do a job and get through the day.

Examples of the terrible service........While sitting by the pool, I had to call someone over from the bar (normally waiters approach passengers and ask if they would like any beverages). When the person finally came over after about 5 minutes, the first words out of his mouth, 'We're about to close.' I replied, I was hoping to order a glass of Merlot. He says, 'I'll see if we have any.' Then when he brought it, my sister tasted mine and said, 'If I like it I'll order a glass,' although he heard her, he just walked away. I can only guess that he did not want to take the time to pour another glass of wine. That bar stayed open for another 20 minutes after he gave me the glass of wine.
