Sail Date: Jul 2016

This was my 14th cruise. I decided to choose Celebrity, as I read previous reviews regarding this cruise line and found a high percentage of those to be positive. I have previously sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, and Disney. I chose to sail to Bermuda on the Summit, and found the ship and it's amenities to be amazing. The embarkation process was the most efficient that I have ever encountered. I purchased a Concierge Class Cabin (9189 with a veranda) and received priority boarding. I knew this was an older ship, but it has been tastefully refurbished and was extremely clean. Upon boarding, you are offered hand sanitizer, as well as when you enter the dining areas. I am a registered nurse...and take particular note of the cleanliness of ships I have sailed with, and the Summit was immaculate. The staff (at every level of service) were polite, professional, and poised. It was very obvious that they take pride in the job they perform.

I also chose the Summit for the size of the ship and the number of passengers on the cruise. I have been on the mega-ton ships and you are basically "herded like cattle". Endless wait lines, noisy children that appear to be under-supervised, etc. Not so with the Summit. The passengers tend to possess "social graces".. that I find lacking on other ships, such as the Carnival Line. The food is superb in all dining venues! The Tuscan Grill is especially good, the OceanView Cafe is well thought out without any "lines" to speak of. The entertainment was exceptional and I had no negative experiences with this ship or cruise line.

Cabin Review

Cabin Concierge D2

Wonderful Cabin! Traveled with 4 childhood friends. We had connecting Staterooms 9189 & 9185. Both cabin stewards Servio and Jesus were outstanding! Very clean, loved the towel characters and chocolate treats each night. Our stewards were always professional and polite. We asked for an additional towel, a refill of our ice bucket, and another pillow..and each time; Servio & Jesus provided prompt service. As three people were in my cabin, we used the sofa bed and "rotated" nights. Both the sofa bed and the twin beds were comfortable. The bedding was very clean and the sheets /bed linens were extremely white, as were the towels and washcloths. The carpet appeared new and very clean.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

We opted to take a Catamaran Excursion, but waited to the last minute to schedule and the offering was booked. The cruise line did try to help us with other options, but we elected to use a taxi and tour the island and beaches on our own. Passengers that we spoke with....that DID sail on the Catamaran Excursion loved it.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

We did not choose an excursion at this port, as we live near New Jersey and New York, and visit the states on occasion.
