I just want to start out by saying that I normally don't complain about cruises since I feel that dollar for dollar you get the most bang for your buck on a cruise. We just returned from a family vacation aboard the Carnival Magic and unfortunately we found the ship poorly run and lacking in some basic facilities. First off we have never been on a ship where the cabin steward has not made an effort to introduce themselves and ask if there was anything that we needed. After a week on the ship I still don't know his name. He did a good job with the room, but he should at least make an effort to know us and introduce himself. The swimming pool on the ship is much too small considering how many passengers the ship holds. We normally enjoy breakfast in the dining room and found it odd that when we were seated and given menus that they always neglected to ask if we would like juice and what kind. I'm not trying to nit pick but we have been on about 18 previous cruises at least 6 of which have been on Carnival and have always been asked about juice before. They have a salad bar and Guys barbeque on the ship on deck 5 but only keep it open for 2 hours on sea days, great options just not long enough operating hours. Buyer beware !! If you purchase something in the Fun Shops make sure you get the item that you were looking at. I purchased a Citizen watch in the Fun shop for $517 and found out when I got home that the sales representative gave me the wrong one. (black face instead of blue one). Starboard Cruise Services operates the Fun Shops for Carnival Cruise Lines and after I called them they said that there was nothing that they could do. I called Carnival and they said it was not their problem. Its a great watch just not the color I thought I was purchasing. All in all I must say that this was the most disappointing experience on Carnival Cruise Lines. The entertainment was also disappointing on this ship. Good Adult comedians but the other shows were sub-par. We will be cruising again with the family, just not on Carnival.
