We loved this cruise mostly because of the ports of call. The cabin was great as was our cablin attendant, Andre. However the food is only mediocre and the majority of the crew do not seem very happy. They force a greeting but seem put out when you ask for anything. We had four 18-20 year olds with us and they were treated quite poorly by the crew. Our friend's cabin attendant would knock on the door and immediately open it without waiting for a response multiple times daily just checking in on them until we told him not to do so. Instead of staggering the times that the restaurants are open, they all close at the same time but you can always get room service 24/7 so it's not a real problem but it was kind of a bummer.

My daughter ordered chicken parm one night in the dining room and one of the breasts was totally raw. When we told the server, he simply asked if she would like another. I asked to speak to the chef who came out and was kind and blamed one of the chefs. Luckily my daughter did not get sick from it. The next day they sent chocolate strawberries to our room.

I would probably not cruise with Azamara. I don't think it was worth the money, nor is it comparable to an Oceania cruise.

Nice Walking Tour

On 7/22/16 we took a tour with Sylvie Di Cristo who was referred by Rick Steve's Cruise guidebook. Sylvie was just wonderful. Very accommodating, knowledgeable and has a great sense of human. It was like traveling with a good friend. She picked 7 of us up at our cruise port. Originally we wanted to do a cooking class but decided later we would rather see the area since we were only in port for 7 hours. We had 4 teenagers with us so she took us to a wonderful beach so all were happy. We had lunch at the beach as she was able to get us a table overlooking the ocean. It was fantastic. It was the perfect day. I highly recommend Sylvie. You won't be sorry.

Paola picked us up at the cruise port. She had a speaker system in her van so we could all hear on the drive. She was a plethora of knowledge. However, she seemed put off when the teens in our group would fade off and kept insisting on their attention like a school teacher. Also, we told her we were not shoppers and she insisted on taking us to a perfume shop and leather shop which I felt was a waste of valuable time. My guess is she has a relationship with them since she is a local. She did take us for a lovely lunch though.

It's not worth the long line unless your guide can get you in and skip the line.

Our driver Marco was the best guide we had the whole cruise and we had a guide in every port. He took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch and was genuinely interested in what we wanted to see. He gave us as much time as we needed and was very friendly and funny. All 4 teenagers loved him. Very laid back and accommodating.

Our driver Machello was great. He didn't have much info with regards to history but it is really just a driving service and he was very accommodating. Emerald Grotto is only worth it if there is no line.

Our driver Machello was great. He didn't have much info with regards to history but it is really just a driving service and he was very accommodating. He saved us a lot of hill walking, for sure and lead us to an awesome restaurant with a great view for lunch in Ravello. He gave us plenty of time to explore on our own.

We went on The Pink Palace quad safari 7/28/16.It was easy to book and they picked us up near our cruise terminal and returned us there afterward. It was a great tour, great price, beautifully scenic, very fun and the two male guides were excellent but I am very concerned about the poor conditions and maintenance of the quads. Someone is going to get seriously hurt if it hasn't already happened. My son, who is 19 and very athletic, had his quad turn sideways and flip over going down a dirt incline. Luckily he was able to jump away from it and flip it back upright. My quad stalled whenever going down hill and was difficult to start, even for the guides. Another girl in our party of seven had her quad turn right off the road into a fence. Her finger was fractured and required 5 stitches and she was bruised and scraped up all over. My friend will have a large medical bill to pay from the cruise ship's Doctor as a result. Another girl on the same tour said her quad was going all over the road beyond her control. They couldn't even get our girl a ride back from her accident cite and she was forced to get on her brothers quad to get back to the Pink Palace. The blond girl guide from Minnesota admitted that she is afraid to drive some of the quads because "they have a mind of their own". If that quad had decided to go off the road when we were on one of the high narrow roads, she could have been killed. Someone will surely get seriously hurt on that tour in the future if they fail to properly maintain these machines.

Here is the response I received from the owner after emailing this concerns after the tour:

Firstly please be assured that our 4 wheeler bikes are serviced and maintained in excellent condition as safety is always our priority.

I have looked into the matter further and this is the situation that occurred:

The girl arrived semi-collapsed and our driver helped to bring her into reception where water was put on her face etc. and also bottled water given to revive her. With this in mind and the extreme heat we are very surprised that her family still allowed her to take a 4 wheeler bike. If she was on her own I would never have accepted her to participate in the Safari.

Your son was driving down a hill to Pelekas beach where our guide always goes very slowly so how the bike turned and then flipped back upright is unheard off - unless possibly he was feeling unwell also.

The girl as mentioned above was on a straight road so maybe she was feeling faint again, like in the morning and unfortunately swerved into a fence. Especially with the heat and wearing a helmet most of the day.

Be 100% assured there were no other accidents on the same day so you were misinformed of this. Accidents are normally caused by the person on the bike, by not concentrating, feeling over confident or going too fast!

Our van did in fact come to collect the girl but by this time she was on her brother’s bike and did not want to go in the van.

I feel that no reimbursement of any kind is due.

Lastly I cannot understand why you did not bring this complaint to reception before you left to go back to the ship

Kind Regards,

George Grammenos

Owner

The Pink Palace

Here was my unanswered response:

George,

It is true the girl felt faint on the ride to the Pink Palace due to motion sickness, drinking too much alcohol the night before and dehydration.

My son rides dirt bikes and was feeling just fine when his bike fish tailed and flipped. And we were going slowly down the straight dirt road at the time.

When the girl hit the fence, 6 hours after her bout with motion sickness, she was feeling fine. Her bike had fish tailed minutes before it went out of control going straight on paved street.

We were told by the male guide from Mexico that the guide from Corfu had to leave our tour earlier after we had lunch because there was another accident.

The van never came to pick her up. They simply drove by while we were at the gas station and beeped the horn. A truck came with the male guide that left us earlier to get the quad but our girl was never offered a ride. When they went to drive the quad from the accident it flipped on them too. So don't tell me it was a human error and not mechanical. Your own female guide said she's afraid of some of your machines herself.

I did not address the issue at reception on our return because there were only young girls working there and we wanted to get out of there to the Cruiseship Doctor as soon as possible. Instead we were offered shots of ouzo and were told we had to wait for others to get on the transfer. Your guide knew what had occurred and I was sure they had reported the issue with all the phone calls at the crash site. They said if we waited for the van to pick her up we would miss our transfer. I was surprised no one came to check on us at our return to the Pink Palace. Very disappointed,

Had an excellent tour of the city. Only 3 of the 7 in our tour watch Game of Thrones but we all enjoyed the tour immensely. Perfectly paces and beautiful sights. Our guide Robert is a extra on the show and did an awesome job.

Our guide Barbara was very sweet and easy going. The tour was a little too long for our liking but we had teenagers with us and it was our last tour of the trip so we were probably just time.

Worth the visit as long as there isn't too big of a crowd and if you've never seen glass blown before. The selling part is a little too long but you can ask to cut out early.
